小さな田舎町の湖で溺死事件が多発。オカルトの匂いを嗅いだディーンとサムはさっそく調査開始。

湖って怖いですよね。深夜や早朝の湖って神秘的で吸い込まれそうな雰囲気があります。海とは違う静けさが怖ーい。このエピソードでは、水中で得体の知れないなにかに襲われる恐怖に加え、残された者たちの哀しみを描いています。

ディーンとサムが出会った少年ルーカスは父親が死んだその日からPTSD状態でしゃべれなくなってしまいました。彼が事件解決のヒントをくれると信じたディーンは辛抱強く彼に語りかけます。ディーンもまたルーカスと同じ年頃に母を亡くしたわけで、そのやりきれなさを優しく語ることによって次第に少年はディーンに心を開いてきます。ジェンセン・アクレスってこういうウルウル系の演技が巧い。相手役の少年も言葉を発しない演技がすごく上手。

ルーカス少年が描いた絵をヒントに謎解きを始めたら、35年前に起きた少年失踪事件に関わりがあるばかりか、もっと意外な事実が露見！少年の祖父の悲しい過去が白日の下にさらされるのでした。

悲しくて怖い。謎解きも凝っててよいエピソードでした。

ラストはロードムービーおきまりの切ないシーンでエンド。

ディーンはカッコイイ。

Sheriff Devins: That's the one I'd pick.
